You don't need to match it directly but the CPU FSB should be as fast or faster than the RAM or you may have trouble setting the values in the bios setup. It may not even give the 1066MHz choice if your FSB is 800MHz. Or if you get it going, you may get freeze-ups. So if you want to run 1066MHz Ram, your CPU should be 1066MHz or 1333 (or faster) for an easy setup. Make sure your motherboard is capable of setting the RAM voltages manually. You sometimes need to tweak those values for high end gaming RAM.
