Distinguish among interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis.?
A cell's life goes through different phases. Most of the cell's life is interphase (DNA and organelles are duplicated). Then, it goes through mitosis, a process of cell division in which 2 identical daughter cells are formed. The last step of mitosis is cytokinesis, a step in which the cytoplasm of the cell is divided and then 2 daughter cells are formed. Other steps of mitosis include prophase (chromosomes condense into chromatin--2 sister chromatids), metaphase (chromatins line up in the middle of the cell), anaphase (spindle fibers shorten and chromatin goe to opposite equators), telophase (the cell membrane starts to divide), and then cytokinesis.
