How are King, Queen, Jack, Ace, 10 in descending order when playing cards?

i'm not familiar with those cards i mentioned in the question above. a while ago, i was playing a game that i have to make the cards in descending order or ascending order such as 1,2,3 or 3,2,1. i thought K, Q, J, 10 and A (1 or 11) are in ascending order but when i placed J, 10, A, i didn't get any points, why?
