Can pacifiers mess up adult teeth?

I'm considering using a pacifier partially for fashion and partially because it seems like a good solution to a nail biting problem. I don't care what people think of me, but I do care if my nails are all bloody. Will it mess up my teeth though? They are all adult teeth.
