Did you try Craigslist? I was looking forever fo an apartment in Rome and kept looking at web searches for vacation rentals. Then someone old me to look on Craigslist. I didn't even know Craigslist offered an abroad site. Plus you can post a listing under the want ads if you can't find anything.
